Avoidance Moon is the sixth album by Washington DC Goth Noise act Zabus who are one of Jeremy Moore's projects. The album was recorded at The Prisoners Cinema in DC with Andy Baldwin engineering.
The album opens with the static noise at the start of the title track Avoidance Moon, are you avoiding deposing the king, or is it something else revealed in the slow spoken word vocals, set within the distressed strings and interference backing.
Theoretical Jesus has dark distended guitar and drums with weird noises and deep gothic vocals calling for Catharsis and a second or is it third coming. Leather Mouth is what you get if you spend too much time in the dark room at certain clubs, He can taste it in his mouth like the glory hole has been his for the weekend, dark beats and guitars distil the pain and joy he feels in that gloomy environment.
On Tender Hooks like they have been hung on hooks in the club's cabaret room and various clubbers are deciding what should happen to you while you swing on those hooks stuck into your flesh, distorting backing adds to the unease some clubbers feel on witnessing this.
Baited Idyll contains the key lyrical line on this album "It's easy to ignore" which I guess is what most people will do, they are not ready for this almost anti-music, that sounds out of time, out of sync and just weirdly off, with clanging sounds and muffled production.
Punishment To Extinction like you are stuck listening to the complete speeches of Donald Trump on repeat and can't get away from it, this has dark vocals on the shifting time depletions of the weird tuneless tune backing it.
Communion is only going to happen with like-minded souls who love unholy noise and arrhythmic time signatures, sounding like they were recorded through the walls rather than in the room the music is played in.

Drag Rot is about exploitation and commercial disease corrupting the Drag scene, where being on reality Tv is more important than making a Drag bar smile and have a good time, the diseased backing is like watching, a drag Queen whose heels have broken, has smeared make up and a ripped dress, murdering Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend being played by a tone deaf band who've never heard the song before.
Corrective Rape could be the punishment Jeremy wants meted out to all of the men involved in the Epstein files, although many of them would probably enjoy the experience, but the lyrics about coercion and how this twisted act effects them is stark and unforbidding in the darkness, matching the out of sync backing.
The album closes with The Science Of Seance and I for one and hoping his seance brings a message to work with a real band and just be the vocalist, so that it sounds more like a record you might want to play more than twice, instead of feeling like the album is all about making the listener suffer in the ways Jeremy is suffering.
