It's been brought to this writer's attention that he uses the word 'quixotic' too much. Fair comment, I guess, as it can be a handy adjective to fall back upon without having to reach for the Thesaurus.
But, despite the fear of overkill, it's difficult not to reach for words like 'quixotic' when describing a band like DO ME BAD THINGS. It's one thing that they contain a formidable NINE members and have DSS-defying names like Chantal Delusional, The Woods and Ad Lick, but that their music gleefully blows raspberries at a myriad styles is another matter altogether. Hell, DMBT aren't just schizophrenic, they're purveyors of multiple-personality rock'n'roll, with plenty of tics and disorders all their own.
After all, what else can you attribute a song like "What's Hideous?" to. Dammit, it kicks off with bitten-off, strutting Aerosmith-style riffs and lippily cool vocals from (I suspect) Ms.Delusional and continues on its' merry way via a soulful, Bill Withers-style interlude and a gorgeously gauche guitar solo from Lewi Lewis. Christ knows, none of it should work, never mind be released on a major label, but Do Me Bad Things obviously know more than we know, because the whole bleedin' caboodle works like a dream. The bastards. How do they do it?

So, against the grain, this is a neat single. It's bitchy, vengeful, defies you to dance to it and basically top, quixotic fun all round. There: I said it again and I'm not the slightest bit repentant. Ha!
