Review: 'MCBRIDE, WOODY'
'Psenario (12 inch vinyl)'

-  Label: 'Novamute'
-  Genre: 'Blues' -  Release Date: 'April 4th, 2005'-  Catalogue No: '12NOMU142'

Our Rating:
Mute subsidiary Novamute send out his 12" vinyl with four big chunks of dance/trance by numbers techno. There's not much to listen to, but they do a job and there is invention in some of the decorative voice and synthesised embellishment. Lascivious ownership would be for a self-knowing few who can tell that this is better that the average. But it is a club pro going through the motions because it’s what he does best.

Listening to the tracks you wouldn’t know he's an anti drugs vegan. But now you know you might be happier to shuffle about to it on your next alternative night out.

"The Machine" is a routine seven minutes of steady dance floor stuff with an ethereal vocal. "Pslow" is a little funkier and slightly slower: comprising 98% beats and 2% interesting electronica. "Dark and Low" picks the same thing up a little and adds a rather obtrusive vocal sample. "Do You Think" lands on a mid point between the previous three tracks. Stabs of distant keyboard are tiny oases of aural stimulus in an otherwise barren landscape.
