Our Rating:
TRIALS come from one of my favourite parts of world: Wicklow, Eire. Them thar hills are rather special to me but I don’t know any of you well enough to possibly say why.

We’ll just leave it at special.

It’s probably the hard-to-ditch prog-rocker in me but I do have a strong liking for instrumental music. Across 3 tracks and just over 28 minutes this is what 3-piece TRAILS provide. It’s primarily just guitar, bass and drums but the band have sufficient melodic momentum to maintain a high level of quality coupled to their artistic endeavours.

More importantly the music is strong enough and good enough to take you somewhere rather than make you crave to be elsewhere. The “somewhere” you journey to is very much down to yourself and it’s probably easier to get to if you just free your mind and allow this music to take hold.

Then your ass will no doubt follow.

TRAILS utilise loops and samples and other sounds and are not averse to crashing into your reverie with a blast of punk/metal and jazz noise.

Jazz noise?

What the f**k am I on about?

In LCD terms it’s a psychedelic explosion of The Floyd v. Tortoise v. Loop v. Wilco v. Your Preconceptions About Music and I for one love it to bits.

More please.
