Our Rating:
The meeting between retro Americana sweetheart Grey DeLisle and “whirlwind” raspy R’nB vocals of Les Greene is an opportunity to let sparks fly.

DeLisle metaphorically lets her hair down and sounds like she is enjoying every minute as the two rattle through ten of her original songs (three of which are co-written by multi-instrumentalist producer James Intveld).

Greene voiced Little Richard in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis movie so you can well imagine that nuanced self-restraint is not high on his agenda. He takes on the lead role of DeLisles 2002 song Homewrecker to embody a swaggering “devil in some tight leather” in place of the original vixen who was a “devil in a tight sweater.”

Elements of classic country, gospel and rockabilly are served up in a vibrant mix of jump-jiving raunch’n’roll. A smattering of soulful ballads like I’m Gonna Let You Call Me Baby and That’s All lend a balance to the hell for leather party tunes.

Lead vocals are democratically divvied up until the couple close with a rip-roaring duet for the Grease classic You’re The One That I Want. This track alone is sufficient to justify a collaboration in which the 32 minute playing time positively flies by.
