Review: 'RAW BUD vs RONI SIZE'
'RISE UP'

-  Label: 'RUNNIN RIOT'
-  Genre: 'Punk/New Wave' -  Release Date: 'APRIL 25TH 2005'-  Catalogue No: 'RUN002'

Our Rating:
Welshman RAW BUD drives a bulldozer into RONI SIZE’s ‘Rise Up’ (taken from the 2004 album ‘Return to V’ and featuring Sweetie Irie on vocals) and dumps a load of punk/metal noise from his over-sized bucket.

Artlessly noisy and gritty its metal riffs and drum rolls gleefully kick and punch Size’s original around the ring without ever beating it into submission, the breathless drum ‘n’ bass more than a match for the brash punk upstart. Reminiscent of Tricky’s ‘Black Steel’ there’s also equal measures of Ministry, Public Enemy and The Prodigy making up the tag team.

RAW BUD also takes on Size’s ‘Bump ‘n’ Grind’ remixing it as ‘Party Time’ and creates something equally as successful albeit with a clearer line in metal chords and riffs and a more straightforward rhythm.

There’s additional remixes from Nightbreed as well as Size’s original version of ‘Rise Up’ but it’s the first two tracks that quicken the pulse and threaten to destroy the eardrums.
