Review: 'SHAMELESS'
'OUTTA MY FACE EP'

-  Label: 'BEYOND REALITY MUSIC'
-  Genre: 'Hip-Hop' -  Release Date: '13TH JUNE 2005'

Our Rating:
SHAMELESS is this month’s Mike Skinner wannabe and ‘Outta My Face’ is his debut EP. The title track is a cautionary tale about bingeing on booze and wacky baccy as SHAMELESS used to do every weekend until he realised his life was going nowhere. All three tracks carry an unexpectedly high ratio of tunesmithery to complement the rapping with much of the music sounding like old skool UK dance/hip-hop.

Although London born and bred SHAMELESS reminds me of The Stereo MCs in places and could even be Rob B fronting Goldie Lookin' Chain as remixed by East 17 on third and final track ‘Anything Is Possible’. There are bags of wit to go with the wisdom but the “geezer” level is at a precariously high level – particularly on ‘Bad Company’ - so it’s too early to tell if this is just another jumper on a bandwagon or an artist with plenty to say, loaded with tunes and savviness to back up the attitude.
