The third single to be culled from TOM VEK'S likeably skewhiff debut album "We Have Sound", "C-C (You Set The Fire In Me)" comes in disciplined 'radio edit' mode (though to me it sounds exactly like the original) and makes like a third ineffably funky, DIY affair.
OK, so it's not quite up there with his brittle'n'tenacious previous single "I Ain't Saying My Goodbyes", but "C-C..." is still worth crossing the road for with its' harsh, Fisher Price breakbeats, wheezy hammer horror keyboards and high-end jaywalking basslines starring as its' stoned and scraggily immaculate plot gradually unfolds.

Tom Vek, then, continues to intrigue. While people still seem to view him as a studio nerd who got lucky with labels waging war over the tapes to his debut album, the music itself suggests he will probably comfortably outlast the short-lived buzz accompanying an artist's precarious elevation to this week's 'next big thing' status. Hang in there Tom: you're making stealthy progress so far.
