Our Rating:
The Family Business is the debut album by new Two-Tone ska collective The Family Business LTD who are made up of Jordan Cardy, Preston and Antonee First Class, with Tim Armstrong and Jesse Michaels, who wrote and recorded the album over a couple of weeks in Los Angeles in 2023.

The album opens with the two-tone energetic Floor Burner for us all to get down and skank all night long too, looking like rude boys and girls having a top night out, that bassline and the keyboard upping the intensity to this song imploring us all to get on the floor.

Shakedown everybody get down and don't let that money man fleece you again, brass stabs and insistent beat making clear they know the bankers are robbing us blind, so avoid all the fussing and fighting and protect what's yours.

Detonator asks over a classic organ beat whose going to the Detonator, well is it you, will they let the lion run, letting the beat hit you deep within, go on get moving and grooving to this immensely good fun sound. Especially that nifty guitar solo in love with the Skatalites.

Still A Jamaican is full on toasting and skanking for all the things that makes an emigre feel like they are still Jamaican, from the Rico style trombone solo to yard food and a good spliff, the energy to skank all night long, they might even do the bogle if they can, with no murderation, they would rather get down with the boogie.

Armageddon isn't quite in the heavier than heavy Armagideon time style, but instead is more of a Beat meets the Specials two-tone banger for dancing to the end of time, making sure when Armageddon come they are dancing and having fun, rather than causing the world to implode. Bambi is a proper slow skanker for someone caught in the headlights, who give hints that they know they can be your own personal Rambo if they have too.

No Vacancy is for all the battles you had to fight, to be allowed to be who you really are, while getting a little bit fried at the edges to that Cherry Oh beat and good intentions, making sure no one tells you they have No Vacancy because you don't look right to them.

Transistor go on put on that old school radio and get everyone up dancing again, to that magical two-tone ska sound, living life right and if you have to stay in bed tonight, all the pubs are shite these days, they can no longer relate to the songs on the radio, they are left turning off the radio and powering up the gramophone once more.

Dead Boy is super speedy tear-stained ska pop for that Dead Boy and what happened to take his life away far too soon. The album closes with A.S.B.O. and the sort of rude boy who was handed that anti-social behaviour order due to his lack of self-control in the chicken shop, they tell that rude boy it's time to go he's out of control again.
