Review: 'OSBOURNE, OZZY'
'DREAMER'

-  Label: 'EPIC/ LEGACY'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'FEBRUARY 2002'

Our Rating:
Rather like LEMMY, there’s always been a soft spot in my heart for Ozzy. After all, he’s never made any bones about the fact that BLACK SABBATH were about as satanic as a kindergarten tea party (mind you…) and besides, for making a run of classic albums with ver SABS from 1969-1974 (ish) and for the incident where he nearly blinded and poisoned the local vicar with a hash cake he’s just beyond judgement.

Unfortunately, in the cold light of day, he still has new product to push and thus to "Dreamer." Well, this might be hard to swallow, but it’s quite probably gonna be one of the smash hit, lighters out for the lads ballads of the year. After only a few seconds, our Oz is already pondering, "will Mother Earth survive?" Crumbs. Ozzy the Eco warrior? Amazingly, despite the odds he actually wears it quite well.

Although no SABBAFF, Ozzy’s band (now including ace ex-FAITH NO MORE drummer Mike Bordin) acquit themselves well enough on what is basically the swoony, piano-led ballad that JOHN LENNON never got around to writing.

That said, this personally ain’t my bucket of bat droppings, but verily "Dreamer" is surely both a massive hit and quite possibly Ozzy’s very own "Imagine." Blimey, who’d ha’ thought it.
