Review: 'SIMPLE PLAN'
'UNTITLED (HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN TO ME?)'

-  Label: 'LAVA/ ATLANTIC (www.simpleplan.com)'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'October 2005'

Our Rating:
SIMPLE PLAN are back with their newest single 'Untitled (How Could This Happen To Me?)'. Instead of three and a half minutes of pop punk pleasure, 'Untitled' is a much more 'serious' downbeat song about 'when tragedy hits close to home,' and I'm sure it'll get teenagers up and down the country weeping self indulgent tears when they listen and think about all the non-existent pain they are going through.

Not only is this song just a tad predictable; it's in the minor key (this makes it seem sad), it follows the verse, chorus, verse, key-change format with the obligatory guitar riff in the middle- where I bet that in the video guitarist Jeff Stinco (oh good grief, with a name like that you just KNOW that this band should not be doing serious songs!!) will be playing on the edge of a cliff, eyes closed with the pain that he is experiencing (probably 'cause he's been forced to listen to his own work), its also rubbish.

It's the kind of trite, formulaic crap that boy bands (i.e. Westlife) would dish out, and the depressing thing is that you just know that they would do it so much better. Sorry. Rant over.
