Review: 'FEELING, THE'
'FILL MY LITTLE WORLD'

-  Label: 'Island'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: 'October 31 2005'-  Catalogue No: 'CIDDJ912'

Our Rating:
THE FEELING were a winter resort covers band who became disenchanted with entertaining the booze quaffing snowboarders. They don’t admit to the charge, obviously, but the evidence of this Island Records' single is that they are hoping to engage audiences well below the legal drinking age.

There's an 11 year old in all of us, granted – and mine still howls for DEL SHANNON'S impossibly pure voice and heartache. Yours might be a goofy MONKEES fan, or yearn for THE ARCHIES' acetone fizz.

I played my inner eleven year old THE FEELING's tune. It hopped along like a rabbit on carrot juice. Like this:

"Hey! show some love,
you ain't so tuff,
come fill my little world
right up
right up (rpt)."

The IEYO seemed unsure and I had to prompt him. "Is that good?" I asked. "Nrgh", he grunted. "Sawrih". He fidgeted between left and right feet, eyes averted, and shuffled back to his msn session before the track was over. I took this as a "no".

My analytic adult explained that blatant pop needs more respect and more love than this rather selfconscious set of chancers can muster. They proudly present themselves as cheesy soft rock – but (sadly) this single comes through as little more than soft cheese on the way to the rocks. Jo Whiley had is as a record of the week. So I guess that settles it.
