TOUPE are a trio from Southampton comprising of two bassists (one 4 string and the other 6 string) and a drummer. Although they're evidently using this unique instrumental line-up as their primary calling card they should be told sooner rather than later that often the net effect of their slap happy bass playing is to remind me of the interlude music in Seinfeld.
TOUPE'S first album was called 'Alopecia' and this one goes by the name of 'Burgers'. Songs have titles like 'Fuckin', 'Peepers' and 'Stinky' and in keeping with such prurient titles often their lyrics are either mildly offensive and/or stupid. Although they obviously think otherwise they are never even remotely amusing. Musically they're like a blend of Jazz, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and guitar-riff free Heavy Metal, if you can bring yourself to imagine such a combination.

Other tempting morsels include 'Nastee Gurlz and Nastee Boiz' which is evidently about CHAVS and a song called 'Singa Song/Burghers' which apparently features Tom Robinson on guest vocals. As annoying as their music may be the most irritating factor about TOUPE is the singing style of their lead singer: most of the time he comes across as an irate Mexican madman shouting the odds at some foreigner who has just made a pass at his daughter.
Destined for the freshers' week support slot circuit and clearly only legends in their own fast food lunch-time TOUPE are as crap as the stuff they put in burgers these days.
