Our Rating:
Hang on a minute.

What's going on?

A new band?

Not from Leeds?

From Manchester you say?

Well knock me down with a feather.

Better still this outfit sound absolutely fantastic and have absolutely nothing in common with all that post-punk revisited kerfuffle. DEAR ESKIIMO are Katie White, Jules de Martino and Simon Tempelman, a trio based in the cotton capital of the North who do girl/boy vocals. Together they appear to have re-discovered the much maligned and almost lost art of simple but tune-riddled pop music. Pure, undistilled and thankfully free of any irony 'Be Patient' is their debut 4-track EP and is a deliciously melodic slice of chart-bound pop nirvana. If there is any justice in the world this EP is going Top Ten.

Each track comes gift-wrapped in a bright and breezy rainbow of musical colours and contains such an air of care-free abandon I may have to give up work to run naked in the wilds of the Cheshire Plain. This is pop music for everyone, all inclusive and all welcoming with open arms that just can't wait to hug you with its boundless warmth.

So what do they sound like? Imagine The Scissor Sisters if they had grown up listening to those Top of The Pops albums from the Seventies. Imagine Denim if they had qualified as the UK entrant in The Eurovision Song Contest at the same time as Abba. Imagine Deelite if they had thrown all their kaleidoscope of ideas into pop music rather than dance music.

Total bliss.
