'Jagged Little Pill' was one of those albums that nearly every teenager went out and brought back in 1995 when being a strong and independent (yet slightly neurotic) woman -sorry, person -was in vogue. It's a record that at the time was glued inside the CD player- overly listened to, but still deeply loved by her loyal band of followers- but now, ten years on is buried near the bottom of their pile of CDs and very rarely given a second thought.
So hurrah! for the acoustic version. A blatant money spinning scheme designed to introduce another generation of teenagers to the self obsessed feminist singer, and to lure all aging die-hard Alanis fans out to buy the revamped and re-mastered acoustic version of this (like it or not) classic album.
The release does exactly what it says on the cover. Full of acoustic guitars backed by the occasional drumbeat, piano and harmonica harmony, and headed by the unfortunate trademark wining, nasal excuse for a voice which is Alanis Morissette, this is the audio equivalent of Chinese water torture.

Old favourites which used to get even the most cynical of listeners nodding along to, have been slowed down and stripped down so that only the bare tune- and THAT voice is heard (bad.oh so very bad). This means that the cringe worthy lyrics on 'One Hand In My Pocket' or 'Ironic' can be heard to their fullest, and the intricate vocal harmonies and simple, basic tunes can be sung along to (if so wished).
Thank god that this album is only a little less than an hour long. Anymore and wrist slitting would occur. Poor Alanis is a woman with lots of problems and the only way she feels that she can deal with them, is by sharing them with the world and quite frankly she shouldn't.
