Our Rating:
"To The Music" is an electro-pop track made for the dance-floor, verging on the sleazy but with enough chic Gallic charm to make it supremely sexy.

Single number two from Parisian Marc Nguyen Tan's album "Heat" forms itself around a bassline that immediately shouts Peter Hook- it's very defined tone bringing a strong Joy Division vibe to the track. The simple beat it is matched with has a similarly sharp sound remaining punchy without being overly heavy.

The futuristic synths rise and fall, occasionally blipping and squealing softly. This creates a sheen over the rhythm that draws the listener seductively in just like the protagonist of the piece that the hushed vocals describe- the female temptress. It draws strong comparisons to French compatriots Air- fellow purveyors of sensual electronic sound-scapes.

The single comes with a hefty seven remixes- which can be a little patchy. The highlights include the Engel Remix which draws out a intriguing trance-like musical journey (and long at one second short of the 10 minute mark). The Lotterboys remix is probably the best though- giving it the 80's pop polish complete with jumpy analogue synth lines. It brings out a different side to the track whilst still retaining a sense of the original.

By covering a number of different musical bases the DJ is given maximum options on which to drop- and it is likely he will want to drop one of them. It is a tune taylor-made for the hippest places in town and it begs to be danced to.
