Soulful, sexy, smooth - and not necessarily in that order. Sherelle Cary Smith (http://www.sherellecarysmith.com) has a voice to ache over. Like Anita Baker, there is a sultry yearning in her vocals that'll chill your bones. Look out: This is a heatseeker.
"Do What You Love" has one of the most agonizing cliffhanger endings that you'll hear this year. At only five tracks, it is too short. You want to listen to the Voice again. Smith comforts the ears, seduces them, makes them weep. And it's all over, baby blue.
"You Are My Heart" soothes the heart like Sade used to in the '80s, but the pace is slower here. It's the perfect song for rainy days, especially on cold London evenings. You can almost visualize the teardrops splashing against the fog-covered glass.

Two of this EP's highlights are actually covers, and they are stunningly pretty. Smith's jazzy refashioning of the Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby" is melancholy and dreamy; it is absolutely smashing, and you've never heard the Beatles like this. Brilliant. The baby boomer standard "Our Day Will Come" is transcendent and haunting.
