Review: 'SEROTONIN'
'THE FORCEFEDLIES (EP)'

-  Label: 'www.serotoninband.co.uk'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'November 2005'

Our Rating:
Recorded with Funeral for a Friend producer John Mitchell, SEROTONIN’S self-released ‘The Forcefedlies EP’ sees the Hampshire trio successfully pushing the emo envelope.

‘Sorrow’ is a fine slice of edgy punk pop. Bonus points are awarded for articulating the oft-overlooked plight of the conscience-stricken brain cannibal with the line ‘I would love to have your mind but you need it’.

‘Blindfolded bombers’ oscillates between woozy swing and muscular rock, whilst serving to highlight Serotonin’s charming way with harmonies.

‘Forcefedlies’ (a political number I thought was going to be about a comedy horror family) has more of that gorgeous harmonizing – evocative of the classic power pop of Big Star and the Boo Radleys
On final track ‘The way you make me feel’ Serotonin are rocking out again – a big drum sound and chugging bass combining with riffs that would not be out of place on a Ministry or QTSA cut.
