Review: 'BLAZER'
'THE LAST WAVE'

-  Label: 'Self-Released'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'December 2005'

Our Rating:
‘The Last Wave’ is a demo LP from brothers, John and Raymond Glenn. From the opening chords, it is apparent that everything from the fat squidgy keyboard notes to the meticulous timing of the synthetic sounding drums has been heavily inspired by all things 80s.

Opening track ‘Eileen’ is a fast paced, catchy song with nostalgic echoing vocals which helps sets the tone of the rest of the LP whilst ‘Cocaine Affair’ is a tune which displays all of Blazer's musical influences in one track, a tune with a hint of Aha, a smidgen of Talk Talk, New Order and a smattering of Depeche Mode. This is an album which can be listened to repeatedly and each time something new will appear from the fabric of the simple yet memorable songs.

The LP encapsulates all the finest moments from 80s pop, the dreamy, melancholic vocals and the wistful, drawn out guitar solos, last heard on any Dire Straits track and tunes you can dance along to without looking like a flailing idiot; in-fact you half expect to see smoke rising up from the ground, and a Lycra clad woman swinging her hips and clicking her fingers rhythmically along to the album with the cast from the Breakfast Club dancing in the background.
