Review: 'WHERE THE SPOKEN PLAY'
'A NIGHT'

-  Label: 'www.wherethespokenplay.com'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'December 2005'

Our Rating:
Once the lead singer Igor’s slightly irritating voice is ignored, ‘A Night’ the newest release from London based band, WHERE THE SPOKEN PLAY, is not that bad. The intricate, many layered tunes are raw and passionate, even the lyrics are decent.

‘Three Months’ is a slow, melodic love song, with a mystery female singer joining in with soulful French lyrics. It is a beautiful and sad tune- slightly reminiscent to Nick Cave’s ‘Where The Wild Roses Grow’ but with it’s own individual twist. ‘See You Again’ and ‘Altered,’ two other tracks on the four track LP are simple yet catchy tunes, guaranteed to get your head nodding along.

Unfortunately though, the vocals cannot be ignored for long- it being a central part of each track, and so the release- full of hope and potential, instead of grabbing your attention simply irritatingly grates at your senses.
