Smile.
If the Boston-based Babaloo (http://www.punkmambo.com) want you to do anything, it is to show them your pearly whites. Putting the fun back into modern music is high priority for these goofy lads.
Like Fishbone a generation before, Babaloo brew a crazy soup of ethnic flavors. But that's just a surface comparison. Babaloo are more focused on stitching together their collective affection for mambo, samba, and Latin pop than fusing reggae and ska with punk.
Nevertheless, Babaloo certainly creates a Fishbone-esque level of manic energy. It's party at ground zero all of the time for these fiesta-loving souls. And they certainly waste no time: The first track, "Salsaton del Guevón," blows into the speakers with pedal-to-the-floor velocity, a blast of tropical air with horns ablaze and congos pounding.

"Crack Crack" is mambo at its best; it'll make you want to dance naked around the room, spilling beer everywhere. Despite the various musical ingredients Babaloo is cooking with, there honestly isn't much diversity here. "O'Congo" dives into ska territory yet it doesn't stray too much from the Babaloo formula. But Babaloo aren't aiming for high artisty. They just want to make you feel good and laugh.
And give you a smile.
