Melbourne-based Vanessa Eve squeezes her anger into two punk pop nuggets with a sneer and a giggle here. Hook-laden and ridiculously catchy, beer-swilling indie-disco music that sticks in the brain and try as hard as you might forces at the very least a wee smirk if not an inane grin.
Taking her cues from Riot Grrl and the likes of Hole, the influences slap you about the face straight away but come out a great deal more poppy and polished than anything released by angry young ladies back in ’92. It’s stupid, throwaway and most importantly fun. Nothing big or clever about it but that’s not the point is it? Jump up and down, spill your beer and most of all smile, smile , smile.
