Review: 'KYPIE'
'FOR THE SILHOUETTES'

-  Label: 'www.kypie.co.uk'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: 'February 2006'

Our Rating:
Starting off with some Jimi Hendrix psychedelic fret wankery, opener and best track ‘London City’ soon twitches and stutters into better shape, a decent shouty vocal carrying it along with a drunken swagger.

The ghost of Jimi doesn’t lie down there though, creeping up in the form of guitar solos at odd intervals throughout this EP. Veering worryingly close to Levellers territory for my personal tastes (especially considering this trio’s youth – no one should sound like The Levellers at that age. Or ever thinking about it) , the songs here are full of teenage dreaming and wistful looks, laments to six formers that will have them swooning.

There is certainly promise here, a little cheesy and earnest in places, but with a polish and a bit of work there’s enough to spawn something good. Not bad at all lads.
