Review: 'TEST ICICLES'
'TOTALLY RE-F***KED'

-  Label: 'DOMINO'
-  Genre: 'Punk/New Wave' -  Release Date: '27TH FEBRUARY 2006'-  Catalogue No: 'RUG223CDP'

Our Rating:
Briefly TEST ICICLES promised a riot was going on and seemed to have the ammunition to back it up with their sporadic misfit of a debut album 'For Screening Purposes Only' and a belter of a debut single in 'Boa vs Python'. However, being booed off stage while supporting fellow label-mates The Arctic Monkeys and the strains of touring have taken their toll and the band called it quits last month.

So as swan-songs go this single is pretty lame and inconsequential. Choosing grime remixes of key track 'Boa vs Python' and album track 'Catch It' may fall in line with the band's 'throw it all in the mix' attitude but it fails in its agenda by sounding just like a grime record and nothing else. The whole point to TEST ICICLES seemed to be to make a kaleidoscopic cacophony of noise and not to simply put all the eggs in one generic basket.

One for the die-hard fans but I'll remember 'Boa..' first time around if its all the same to you.
