Review: 'REVL9N'
'SOMEONE LIKE YOU'

-  Label: 'Because Music'
-  Genre: 'Indie'

Our Rating:
Maria Eilersen, Åsa Cederqvist and Nandor Hegedüs are REVL9N from Sweden. They do an electro-pop soft core tease with synth, bass, guitar and vocals. They say they want you, they want you. They want you. Or anyone else who's a bit like you, not that bothered really. It drives along and the singing sounds excitedly pre-orgasmic. There's no killer riff to lift it into the pop pantheon, but DJs who drop it into their set will keep the kids hopping and the tune will get one or two repeat requests.

Attached tracks "Spin" and "Closer" make it clear that REVL9N have plenty more where "Someone Like You" came from. But I sense that A&R persons would want the R to be a touch stronger so the A's could concentrate on pushing their sex and vile synth. That is what REVL9N do pretty well. The sound is crisp and uncluttered.

Without necessarily making it the full distance the main track actually is half decent disposo-pop. It verges on being memorable. If the publicity push is aggressive enough then it is quite good enough to be a commercial success. But I can’t see it steaming ahead on its own account. And no, I can’t pronounce it either.
