Review: 'FELL CITY GIRLS'
'SWIM (EP)'

-  Label: 'LAVOLTA'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '15th May 2006'

Our Rating:
This EP starts out promisingly - FELL CITY GIRLS give a nice, melodic and pretty tune with ‘Swim’. But after four tracks of sincere sweetness, all of which sound practically identical, you feel like you’ve eaten too much candy floss and your teeth are all about to drop out. Fell City Girls are definitely a one trick pony, but probably a successful one given that they are churning out music that adheres to a tried and tested formula.

Fell City Girls fall into the category of KEANITES (if you will) who, unsurprisingly, sound very much like Keane and Snow Patrol et al, minus the piano bashing but still with the same epic overtly-searing heartfelt sentiments, and with every song appearing to be in D minor.

Who would have thought that Keane, the Ken Barlows of indie music, would be so influential, and after such a short time since that style of music fizzled out?

Truly the mind boggles.
