Review: 'MYSTERY JETS'
'YOU CAN'T FOOL ME DENNIS'

-  Label: '679 RECORDINGS (www.mysteryjets.com)'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '15th May 2006'

Our Rating:
We’ve been here previously as “You Can’t Fool Me Dennis” has already been doing the rounds at the radio stations, but as déjà vu goes, this one comes as a pleasant sensation to enjoy a second time round.

By some way, our Eel Pie Island heroes at their most jubilant, linear and accessible, “…Dennis” is tight, proffers a distinct, hip-swingin’ indie-Motown backbeat courtesy of Kai Fish and Kapil Trivedi and has those mercurial harmonies coming at you from all sides. It’s the sound of the Jets crossing into busy, commercial airspace without sacrificing their essential oddness and when Blaine sings “you can do anything you want as long as it makes sense” you instinctively know he’s going to do just that and people will listen.

All this and the coolest Dad in rock too. Are there no ends to these lads’ talents?
