Our Rating:
Stuart Murray.

The lad has a lovely voice, and the band wind around him and that irresistible (heart)beat, before the melancholy search through forgotten memories ends in descent at the core of your brain. This jingle-jangle pop would not sound out of place if it was a support slot with The Band of Holy Joy, or The Man from Delmonte, when we were all different, but the same, when it hurt more, when you thought more, or less.

When we lived for the music.

DECORATION have recreated my early adulthood, and thrown up so many gigs, so many memories, that I can’t fail to love this. Their sound is pulsating and vital, and the lyrics are intelligent and sharp as they bounce off the sonic wall of manic guitar, racing heartbeat bass, and thumping drums.

This is an excellent record, a real pull threatens to drag you under amidst a tidal wave of minor chords. It comes backed with ‘Job in London’, which again features a jangling riff over a drum/bass heartbeat. It is quieter, and more measured, but all the time builds slowly, surely as it burrows under your skin.

I am sorry I missed them when they played Manchester, three days after this release, but I will catch them the next time around. A lovely, pure pop sound.
