These three studio demos from melody-crazy Cheltenham outfit TRANSIT COP bring together the traditional energy of rock n roll with a heady, synthesised trance/techno pulse to create their head mashing sound. The results are stylistically varied too, they are not locked onto one groove as though lost somewhere in the autistic spectrum.
‘I Don’t Want To Fade Away’ surges and dips, but stays on it’s feet as the slow-building tune gathers momentum, and eventually loses control of itself. That’s a powerful rhythm section at work; that the drummer is prepared to go head to head in a duel with the manic pulse of the synth. is a statement in itself. Psychotic by the end, it leaves a trail of devastation behind it as it fades.
The tune that follows is also pretty heady stuff. The guitar sound hits the spot – uplifting melodies pour out of it and over another insurmountable wall of rhythm as it thumps away without respite. The vocal hits a strained echoing pitch, that sounds like they mean it, and there is that honesty thing, the lads-next-door style and the street sound in sway with each other.

‘Something Manic’s Happened Here’ is given over to trance’s warped dynamic, enhanced by a darkened bassline and the offbeat drum pattern.
It all sounds just great, but really, it challenges next to nothing. The footprints in the snow are still there for them to follow, and TRANSIT COP trace them to perfection, leaving few of their own tread-marks added. The sound is polished, but energy apart, in places it is evident of the easy ride to pop stardom
