Review: 'EVERY MOVE A PICTURE'
'HEART=WEAPON'

-  Label: 'V2 MUSIC'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'May 2006'

Our Rating:
Sounding like a fusion between Duran Duran and the popular guitar-based, disco rock sound which is so prevalent at the moment, San Francisco’s Every Move A Picture prove that sometimes even the most unlikely influences will make for
brilliant songs. The band’s debut album is an infectious, upbeat mix of off-beat guitars, syncopated hi-hat beats and bleeping synths.

Songs such as ‘Simple Lessons In Love And Succession’ and opening track ‘Mission Bell’ display a strong 80s influence, with powerful, echoing vocals and reverberating guitars over driving drumbeats, and contrast nicely with the more fashionable dance rock sounds of the moment, heard in indie clubs round the country, in tunes such ‘Chemical Burns’ and recent single ‘Signs Of Life.’

Heard individually each tune screams of attitude, attaching themselves to your mind and refusing to leave, but when heard alongside the nine other relatively similar offerings on the album, they unfortunately have the tendency to merge all into one huge amalgamation of disco pop, leaving you half way through the record wondering whether or not you have already listened to this track before.
