THE MORNING AFTER GIRLS pelt us with their debut album, "Shadows Evolve" - which is a barrage of beautiful noise. Taking note from their predecessors - notably Spiritualized, Ride, and The Dandy Warhols - they are carrying the torch for psychedelic-addled Rock n Roll into the current quagmire of bland anthemic indie rubbish being banded about at the moment (you know the culprits...).
The Morning After Girls have coined the Alan Magee 'Creation' sound pretty damn accurately - so much so that they've already had numerous support slots with the BRMC, The Dandy Warhols, and The Brian Jonestown Massacre under their belts.
The album followes their debut single, "Hi Skies", and like the EP, "Shadows Evolve" doesn't disappoint in terms of musical diversity. Part high octane tripped-out rock, part soporific dreamy soundscape, the overall effect is nothing short of stunning. Their music is ram packed with strong melodies, hooks and riffs galore, and the overall feel is reminiscent of proper music rom the early 90s (Ah them were the days, except for the stripy tights and crochet jumpers, shudder...). With all the jingles in the right places, soaring harmonies, and explosive tracks, you could do worse than to get out there pronto and grab a copy of "Shadows Evolve".
