Our Rating:
In the world of Christian music, soothing can sometimes be synonymous with boring. As with any genre, you have your share of the wonderfully gifted and the painfully mediocre. Add singer/songwriter Melisa Prestianni (http://www.melisaprestianni.com) to the list of the highly talented, a truly engaging vocalist who can calm thunderstorms.

While many Christian artists, both the good and the band, can sing, there is a division between those who have personality and emotion in their voice and those who don't. From the initial track, "Clouds to Heaven," Prestianni proves that she can croon with the sparkling beauty of angel wings. Her voice really lifts the soul; it is pleasing to the ear, gorgeous in its simplicity. By opening with soft piano instead of rock & roll guitars, "Clouds to Heaven" Prestianni introduces herself with more of a traditional Christian music approach, one that she moves back and forth from throughout the course of the record.

Verstality is Prestianni's other great quality. Whether the shifting stylistic approaches is because of her or her collaborators remains unknown; nevertheless, she is able to pursue what ever creative turns her music takes, from the lush orchestration of "Heaven's Tears" to the American roots rock of "Overwhelmed" to the Big Band flavors of "Grant Me."

Prestianni does more than sing about God here; her music itself sounds downloaded from above. Blessed with dreamy vocals that can enchant and inspire, Prestianni epitomizes the best that spiritual music has to offer.
