Review: 'STAMMERS, JOHN'
'THE FRIDGE (EP)'

-  Label: 'GARDENSTICKS'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '19th June 2006'

Our Rating:
JOHN STAMMERS is little dose of happiness in a world of turmoil. His music is gentle and delicate, floating lightly over your head like the Summer Breeze. Forgive the whimsical tone, it’s hard not to slip into that way of thinking whilst listening to this stuff.

Stammers’ music is comparable to that of the Beta Band (not surprising as he has already toured with Lone Pigeon), LemonJelly, and Tunng. That is, a very stripped down, accoustic folksy DIY sound, with trippy overtones. But look beyond this initial cosy feeling, and there are complex layers, off-set drum beats, jazzy beats, beautiful string and harmony arrangements. It’s all so lovely.

If this artist is worth his salt, and it’s a sure bet that he is, this won’t be the last we hear of him. One sincerely hopes so at any rate.
