Review: 'TWILIGHT SINGERS, THE'
'I'M READY'

-  Label: 'ONE LITTLE INDIAN (www.indian.co.uk)'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '10th July 2006'

Our Rating:
All bow down before the mighty TWILIGHT SINGERS, fronted by GREG DULLI, as they hit us with their high-octane, weighty, catchy-as-Hell single “I’m Ready”, featuring backing vocals from Joseph Arthur (PWHARRRRR, as per…), and a might fine remix from the Lo-Fidelity Allstars (a blast from the past if ever there was one).

“I’m Ready” is powerful, sexy, sleazy, and speeds through the listener’s head like a hurricane. Which is quite apt, as this single was recorded (along with the rest of their fourth album, "Powder Burns") in New Orleans throughout Hurricane Katrina, using generators to power the instruments during the worst of it. Nice factoid for you there. Well, less of an interesting fact, more of a defining event that almost definitely helped shape the intensity, drama and urgency that was captured in the album, and therefore in this single.

Although, and this has been well-documented, “Powder Burns” doesn’t really move light years away from previous albums (notably “Blackberry Belle”), but if it’s not broke, why fix it? As expected, “I’m Ready” superb. Lovely stuff.
