Review: 'RANK DELUXE, THE'
'POOR MAN'S CAB/ END IN MIND'

-  Label: 'FAT CAT'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '28th August 2006'

Our Rating:
‘Poor Mans Cab’ / ‘End In Mind’ is the latest AA side release from The Rank Deluxe. The first gives a no nonsense punk infused nod to taking the night bus home willingly dragging you kicking and screaming through the 3am post club kebab debris littered streets of London. Raw shouting regional vocals, stabbing scratchy guitars and an unrivalled energy contrast perfectly with the children’s classic “The wheels on the bus go round and round” and is sure to incite mass pogoing on smashed glass up and down the country.

‘End In Mind’ sees a softer, more considered side to The Rank Deluxe dealing with love but steering clear of the stereotypical mushy ramblings that many bands fall foul of. Punk, Ska, Reggae and Rock n Roll are all rolled into one and help to create a distinctive yet reassuring sound. Imagine Hard-Fi meets The Ordinary Boys but with balls, fronted by Pete from Big Brother and you might be halfway there.
