I’ve always disliked it when non American acts feel compelled to add that elongated inflection on every word and whilst I’ve always hated Gavin Rossdale with a passion there is no such ill will towards Matthew Thomas Dillon or ‘Windmill’ to his friends.
He might hail from the Home Counties but in ‘Racing/Tokyo Moon’ we have a snapshot of music that vividly conjures Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire and a plethora of American Indie and I feel compelled to put him in the illustrious company that he deserves. To paraphrase the press release; it’s both beautiful and broken. Add to that 'immediately disarming' and 'WOW'.
