Review: 'WOMBATS, THE'
'MOVING TO NEW YORK'

-  Label: 'Kids'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: 'November 13 2006'-  Catalogue No: 'KIDS009'

Our Rating:
Well, this'll do mother.

If the A side is a bit too clattery generic (which it is) the B SIDE Party In A Forest (Where's Laura?) is a glorious tune in 6/8 that still thumps the tubs at the indie disco with well-above-average fervour.

THE WOMBATS are from Liverpool, which tempts their publicist to use the scuzzy word. Don’t pay any attention. The WOMBATS are a talented and cheerful trio with gallons of music in their souls. The have good songs and the simplest of bass, drum and guitar ornament. This is exactly the kind of record that should be plastered all over the playlist deserts of national radio. And maybe it will be. Released in time to get it’s retaliation in well before the Black Hole Season, A-side lyric "Christmas came early for me" should be made to come true. A cack-handed production and the palpable vinyl adds to the immense charm. Download available.
