Review: 'PARE, TIM'
'Trans-Siberian Express'

-  Album: 'Trans-Siberian Express' -  Label: 'Illicit Recordings'
-  Genre: 'Folk' -  Release Date: '27th November 2006'

Our Rating:
This, the debut release by Sheffield singer-songwriter Tim Pare, is an absolute gem.

Stripped back and laden with confessional lyrics and ripe melodies, this is a consistent as well as satisfying mini-album that contains six tracks of the kind of music that will stand the test of time.

The guitar playing is simplistic at times, sticking firmly to a well-trodden path, but Tim's way with a tune and rich expressive voice more than makes up for this as he drenches the sparse sounds with hooks and immensely personal lyrics.

As blunt as Damien Rice, as beautiful as Bonnie Prince Billy and as inspiringly British and catchy as Badly Drawn Boy, Tim Pare is surely a name to remember.
