Review: 'TO MY BOY'
'IAM XRAY c/w OUTERREGIONS'

-  Label: 'Abeano Music'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: 'September 2006'

Our Rating:
A single review – absurdly late in the review piles – but still worth attention.

TO MY BOY like DEVO and English synth pop of the 80s. It's honestly contrived and honestly devoid of seriousness. They are not alone, and there are others doing this frivolously tasty retro thing – from HOT CHIP to DEAD DISCO. It's perfectly sweet, tuneful and jumpy abouty. "i am xRAY" drives and clangs a bit more, "outerregions" is slightly less frantic. But not enough to make much difference.

TO MY BOY now have "The Grid" as their current 7 inch and download – similar again but a bit more krangy this time. If you spot this stuff on CD in your local independent record shop – don’t be shy. You might enjoy it. They're called Jack and Sam and they look good in knitwear.
