Review: 'FELL CITY GIRL'
'February Snow'

-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '23rd October 2006'-  Catalogue No: 'Lavolta007/008'

Our Rating:
Self-styled post rockers FELL CITY GIRL have released a new ep, following a busy summer that included an opening show at the Carling Reading and Leeds festival and a support slot on the LONGVIEW tour.

The 7” single version features the dramatic and pastoral ‘February Snow’ which shifts and slides on the high keys whilst leaving a trail of broken hearts and minds in its slowly building wake. Falling skies and poignant promises pour forth from the near-falsetto vocals of Phil McMinn as the guitars wail like a howling wind outside.

Backed with the stop-start judder of ‘These are the heart attacks’ - an impatient and epic sounding in and out of focus indie groove with hammering percussion thickened by a catatonic bassline and weighty guitar tracks that wail and whine in a euphonious way as the vocal tension increases…..phew!

It’s easy to understand how their recent homecoming show at the Zodiac in Oxford was a sell out. The ep is available either as a 7”, or 4 track CD, and is a must hear for indie kids fed on diets of atmospheric musical fodder, as this is solid stuff indeed!
