Imagine the scenario; you pay your £7 (or whatever extortionate amount of money it is to go to the cinema these days). The film starts, the opening sequence is everything you were hoping for, the film looks like its going to be a nail biting epic. Then as the plot begins to settle, you find yourself thinking it’s missing a certain je ne sais quoi. As the end credits role, you depart the cinema with a marginally bemused feeling, the film was perfectly adequate but you know you could have spent the money or used the time in a much more production manor.
This is exactly how I felt about ‘Start a Fight’ with an intro reminiscent of a great Smashing Pumpkins song, the lyrics and lead singer's voice just don’t seem to mesh as well as they could. Instrumentally the song is good, as are the 2 b-sides ‘Play It Again Sam’ and ‘Vincent Vega’ but I can not get past the voice, which in my opinion is quite important.
