Review: 'DEVIL MAKES THREE, THE'
'Longjohns, Boots, and a Belt'

-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '2006'

Our Rating:
The Devil Makes Three (http://www.thedevilmakesthree.com) deliver in a big way with "Longjohns, Boots, and a Belt."

Rarely can a trio with essencialy just strings sound so forceful. Their brand of strumming sounds like a powerful train going at half speed. That is they sound powerful, yet you get the feeling that they have more to show you when the time comes to do so. They make the type of music that you could relax with on a summer evening on your front porch, dance the night away with at a local dance, or even take with you on a long drive.

Aside from their driving beat, The Devil Makes Three write some thinking songs that manage to be both smart and fun. Songs
like "Man Tap" will have you both tapping your feet as well as singing along. "Sweeping" will sweep you away with its story of an individual whose mouth alienates them from others. "River Deep" provides an ominous end to the album that manages to invoke some of The Band's better work.
