Our Rating:
Ultra-hotly-tipped Rothwell 5-piece THE PIGEON DETECTIVES continue their meteoric rise to prominence with a foretaste of their forthcoming debut album ‘Wait For Me’, due to hit the shelves in May.They'll be crossing their fingers that it enjoys the success that this excerpt has had, for 'Romantic Type' has shot straight to the top of the indie chart.

Thumping percussion and devil-may-care guitars dip and swerve beneath the terrace chant vocals of mic-swinging front man Matt and there are enough shifts in tempo to keep the whole effect bobbing on a pop-fuelled sea of jangling nervousness throughout. This much-misunderstood ode to, erm, being much misunderstood thus misfires happily on its clearly defined mission to create as much high havoc as it possibly can along the way.

The shambolic appeal disguises some intricate lead guitar work rather well as the chaos gets counted in and the percussion looks to self-destruct at warp speed, leaving holes in the heads of heads everywhere. Shamelessly addictive, this forms a disturbing but easy friendship with your wilder side and brings it floating to the fore in a vomit-stained bid to unleash the hooligan within.
