Review: 'FORWARD, RUSSIA!'
'Don't Be A Doctor'

-  Label: 'Dance To The Radio'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '12th February 2007'-  Catalogue No: 'DTTR025'

Our Rating:
This epic 7 minute plus epic single is ¡Forward, Russia!'s first song to be graced with a 'real' title rather than a number. Not that this helps in any way to make sense of obscure lyrics such as: "You furnished decay with polymer down" which are either profoundly meaningful or random gibberish depending on which side of the fence you're on.

In any event, the words are academic as we are taken on a sonic roller coaster ride with enough twists and turns to make Bohemian Rhapsody sound understated.

It could almost serve as a vinyl CV as it crams an album's worth of material into one seamless whole. A glam meets bubblegum vibe clashes with hard boiled indie rock action and by the time the Darkness style falsettos kick in, it all verges perilously close to self parody.

It's by turns bewildering, thrillingly excessive and frankly ridiculous yet like all the best white knuckle rides, when you reach the end you can't wait to experience it all over again.
