Review: 'RIPPS , THE'
'Loco c/w Too Much Too Young'

-  Label: 'Catskill Records'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '5th March 2007'-  Catalogue No: 'RID052'

Our Rating:
Taken from their forthcoming debut album - Long Live The Ripps - this Coventry band claim that Loco is "a love song about two dysfunctional people who want to party".

The bass intro with shades of Pretty Vacant may briefly fool you into thinking you're in for a slice of punk fury but the emphasis here is fun fun fun.

So much so, in fact, that singer (Patch Lagunos) sounds as if he's struggling to keep a straight face as he rhymes loco with coco-mojo-jojo-oh no in rapid succession.

For the 'b-side' you'll find a passable cover of the two tone classic 'Too Much Too Young' originally by fellow Coventry heroes The Specials. The Ripps's version somehow manages to squeeze in the theme from Batman without sounding disrespectful.

A must for your next power pop party tape.
