Our Rating:
THE PEOPLE’S REVOLUTIONARY CHOIR release their double-A side single “The Breeze That Blows/Lost and Found”, a heady acid-trip of a single that makes you feel dizzy just listening to it. If the “Big Bang” had a sound track, this would surely be it.

PRC are honouring a specific genre, and have had the fantastic opportunity to work with various producer gurus, including Ben Lurie (Jesus and Mary Chain) and Brendan Lynch (Primal Scream). All totally unsurprising given their Creation Records-esque sound. They have also toured with The Brian Jonestown Massacre, and are currently being bigged up by Primal Scream’s Mani and various members of Kasabian. But does their music live up to the hype?

Well, with their latest release, it’s very easy to pin-point the swirly psychedelic mush that you get with Spiritualized, the drawling cracked and haggard vocals reminiscent of Bobby Gilespie, the distant echoing Gospel harmonies floating beneath the brain-piercing Hammond vocals, and the warm fuzz of My Bloody Valentine. It’s all been done before, no question about that, but it’s still fucking marvellous. So yes, they are worth all the fuss – in fact PRC is definitely one of the bands to get excited about in 2007.
