Our Rating:
Whoa! Just for a minute there this was Clay Aiken confessing all to his Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch.

A scratch of the head and a quick double-check of the CD later and its clear that the Motown rhythm section has transmogrified into a three piece from Sunderland and delivered this stupendous summer treat. Such a simple device it is too. Oft discussed, but rarely used, this reminds even the most casual listener of a veritable plethora of hits from Detroit’s Motor City and once it gets its hooks in you you’ll still be tapping your foot come September.

But wait. There’s strings here too. And harmonizing plucked from the Beatles back catalogue. There’s even a smattering of Jeff Buckley. By rights this should result in a royal mess, yet Field Music get the blend just right and create what could and should be one of the hits of the summer. Chances are it won’t receive the airplay it deserves, but the more discerning listener should seek this one out. Perfect pop.
