Our Rating:
What more could you ask for than an album that mines all that is the best in contemporary rock music and channels it into twelve songs of tremendous verve and energy? The answer to that, dear reader, is a resolute “nothing!”

It’d be impossible to list all of the influences on display here, suffice to say if one was to pick any guitar band of the past thirty years chances are their impact can be felt somewhere on this CD. It seems that Rock n Roll is indeed alive and well, and thank the maker for that!

Check the visceral guitars of wonderfully titled Jamaica Beer Eyes for proof or the Clash-alike Help Is On Its Way.
Current single For Real opens with a riff equal to anything concocted by Dave Grohl before adopting the quiet verse, heavy chorus dynamic and a guitar solo oddly reminiscent of the Darkness.

Vocalist Owain Ginsberg’s gravel vocals add a dirty garage band edge to an otherwise polished performance by the rest of the band and this is certainly no bad thing. It has been remarked that Lemmy himself would be proud of Ginsberg’s throaty roar. Some praise indeed!

Elsewhere, the opener Night Relay and Sweet Isabelle showcase a band happy to mix up differing styles and still turn in a complete and realized track which is more than just filler.
There are more introspective moments too for those who find the distortion just too much in one sitting. Kettle Song is a pretty acoustic piece complete with Beatles harmonies and a vintage Rod Stewart vibe.

Bustling and energetic, The Heights come armed with a fistful of rocking songs and wealth of influences to guide them.
Bring the noise!
