Review: 'HIGH WIRE, THE'
'Saint Bees'

-  Label: 'Impatio Sound (www.thehighwire.net)'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '18th June 2007'

Our Rating:
Oddly-pitched vocals over an easy-to-love sound. That was my very first impression of ‘Saint Bees’, the debut single from London shoegazers THE HIGH WIRE.
There are touches of the psychedelic in the electric guitar licks and the bass rumble, but throughout this slice of indie heaven, it’s the acoustic core of the music that sounds strong. With much of the melody carried in a reverb-heavy harmonica riff, this is literally music to the ears.

Enhanced by ethereal female harmonies, the track is rendered weightless as it shimmers with genuine quality, effortlessly recalling the hazy indie halcyon days of almost 20 years ago as it slides and shifts like a reflection of the morning sun.
In keeping with this, although it’s widely available on digital download now, 18th June will see the 7” only release limited to a just a few hundred ‘hard copies’ – and sounding this good, there’ll be a definite scramble to get hold of one!
