Review: 'TAILORS, THE'
'Wakey Wakey'

-  Label: 'Trash Aesthetic'
-  Genre: 'Alt/Country' -  Release Date: 'Out now'-  Catalogue No: 'TACD1001'

Our Rating:
Wakey Wakey is the debut album by four-fifths British, one-fifth Canadian outfit The Tailors.

The album showcases 11 well-written, well-played songs and it passes the time on a summer evening pleasantly enough.

Tracks such as "The Little Things" bring to mind the alt-country Americana of Bright Eyes, and "Lonely Pockets" could be Pavement in more reflective mood - and there is nothing wrong with that.

The main problem is that the album is perhaps a bit too pleasant and one-paced. None of the songs truly stand-out and really force the listener to pay attention.

To be honest though, that is the worst to be said for The Tailors. There is much promise here, but "Wakey Wakey" is the sound of a talented band needing to shake off their influences to find their own sound.
